need details to restore american safe on wheels !

Hi guys. i started the restoration of an antique american safe some months ago and now have time to progress but need details : first i am not sure on the manufacturer, there is a number on the lever handle (58028) and do not know if it's a serial number or other ? is it possible to know the date of manufacture ?
on the photo accessories are removed but it is complete (except the end screws decorative caps on pivots). as you can see, this is a massacre paint job ! the only advantage for the previous owner is that is wife don't ask him paint work in his house !
is it possible to change the combination on this lock ?
Very exciting to restore this safe, my favorite with the Milners !
