Hi folks, this is my first post on a forum like this and hopefully someone out there might be able to shed some light on an interesting item I recently found at a local auction. It's a solid brass lock or more specifically a Panic Bolt and is impressed as such, Patent Panic Bolt, manufactured by a company called Golledge and Bridgen the Strand, Wolverhampton. These are the only markings I can find. It measures approx. 8 inches in length and looks like it might be late 19th early 20th century. It has a lever which when lifted activates the 2 side bolts. I have not been able to find a similar item anywhere on line but did find some early period drawings from the late 19th and early 20 th century of patent panic bolts. Any info would be gratefully received. I'm not sure on how to load a few photos but will do my best to find out . Thanks, Addo
