Default Iron? steel? with brass shank

I was given a key to wear on a necklace and is a token of affection. I scoured the images on the web to find a similar one and have had no luck. This would be my very first attempt at researching a key. The bow is simple, the shank is brass covered I think, and I am almost positive it is not a skeleton key. The shank is a barrel shank. I am particularly drawn to the two different metals of this key. I rather like the combination. I was wondering if anyone could help give me general information on what this key may or may not have been used for and maybe time period.

It came out of a property somewhere in Rhode Island that was being cleaned out. There are no maker markings on this key.

Any assistance would be greatly admired.

    Thanks
