    And it isn't even Hollywood.

In Agatha Christie's Poirot is a episode where somebody is locked in in a bank vault, but they didn't use a real one but built a fake one for this.

    Do you recall the title?

Actually it was Father Brown S3E10 The Judgement Of Man.

But in Agatha Christie's Poirot S3E3 The Million Dollar Bond Robbery was the inside of a bank vault.

There is a Poirot where someone is locked in a vault, but I am not sure that it was a bank vault- more a sort of a book safe type. I don't remember which story it was, though.

The Million Dollar Bond Robbery included two quick scenes with a minor vault, both darkly lit. Nothing exciting happens, nobody is locked in; the bonds are moved into a case for transport. Here are some stills from the first scene --

    Default Old movie and safe

    Hi Gents,

This old 1956 English movie was rather well put together, good plot and the safe actually looks genuine, although given the plot on the film it had to be false for very good reasons.

But if it was a mock up, well, you can see the double row of bolt sockets on the frame, but if you catch the clip in the right place and pause it, the bolts show on the door too, and it is so brief no normal movie watcher would even notice. This means they went to a lot of trouble for no good reason it would seem.

    Any thoughts anyone????

    Steve

About 5 minutes into this there is a safe in the background:

I thought it would be part of the plot, but it isn't.

Photography as art -- Scott Griesbach created this altered photograph:

The original photograph is below (I can't seem to find a larger version):

The door is in London, at the former HSBC Midland bank (now a hotel). I could not find much about Scott Griesbach; there is an article which explains "Scott Griesbach, who lives in Los Angeles, showed a series in which Jackson Pollock and other artists appeared as jockeys, jackhammer operators and truck drivers."
