    Default Matching Keys to Locks

I have a house with old locks on the doors. I also have a few keys. Is there a way to match the key to the lock, or am I going to have to use trial and error? I just wanted to know before I start taking doors apart.

Trial & error should be a fairly quick way - one VERY important point - do all testing with the doors OPEN ! it is not all unusual for old keys etc to LOCK the door perfectly - but fail to UNLOCK it !!!

When trying keys - be gentle, lubrictate the locks, and use no force.

    Default Matching Keys to Locks

I have been trying the trial and error method, but I have more locks than keys, I guess I was really hoping on a way to get keys for the rest of the locks. I am guessing this will take a lock smith, then?

Yes, you will probably need to find a good locksmith, it might be worth making a few phone calls first, with as much info as possible on the locks you have, ie any names or markings on the locks and keys to help in ID'ing them.
