Yale's Lock challenge
Does anyone know what happened with Linus Yale Junior's US$3000 lock challenge for the Magic Infallible Bank lock, issued in 1856? Did anyone ever cash it in? Yale died in 1868 so I guess it must have ended then.
Any further info?

Another point Gary is that although the key is marked 'patent' nothing has been found in the British patent abridgements, so maybe its one that was 'applied for' but not granted... The mystery...
