Default Looking to buy ASRO antique drawbolt lock

collector from Australia looking for ASRO flat lock UK brand and manufacture from around 1940 (please see original advert attached).

It is made under UK patent numbers 483048 and 458316.

It is about 83x35x20 and the ‘catch’ is about 35 high.

Any leads on where we could find such a lock, please let me know.

    Thanks,
    Brydie

The post shows a drawback bolt-did you merely want the usual one?

Thanks for your reply Tom. I'm not 100% sure how to answer as I am searching on behalf of my Dad in Australia. I think whatever we can find that matches closely would be ok. Please see full details from my Dad below. Do you think you have something to match this?

"It is an ASRO flat lock UK brand and manufacture I think from around 1940 when that advert was published.

It is made under UK patent numbers 483048 and 458316.

It is about 83x35x20 and the ‘catch’ is about 35 high.

It is mounted on the inside of the door and the ‘catch’ is manipulated by hand from the outside of the door.

It comes from a wardrobe which appears to be Australian made as it mention Australian Standards on it.

It is metal, parts of which may be brass although it is silver in colour (chrome plated?)

The one pictured is the one I have and it fits the RH door of the wardrobe."

I am still not sure whether it is the one shown with a drawback bolt or the normal flat one .

Default reply to ASRO lock enquiry

sorry Tom. the lock he needs is the one in the bottom left hand side of the advertisement I attached under the heading drawbolt, so I guess it is the drawbolt he needs.

    Do you have one?

    Thanks

Tom, I have that exact lock on the bottom left hand side of the attached advert on a wardrobe I'm trying to restore. One of the last things on the list, aside from having some new brass bits being fabricated, is to get a new key mad for it. The original key vanished years before my family bought the wardrobe, Do you have any advice for finding a replacement key, or having a new key made that will work the lock?

On the locks back side, the side opposite to the key hole, there is a stamp shaped like a diamond that says "ASRO". Right below it says something, the first part I can only make out as REO IN U.K. And on the bottom that side, it says PROV.PAT 27295. On the key hole side it says CASE PATENT 158316

Is this a real Asro or is it a fake?
