Default Never heard of this type of lock

We got an old L.H. Miller safe (weighs a ton)with an interesting lock on it (that works) and we just wanted to know what this lock is called. The lock is a knob in the center of the safe door that you pull out and slip a brass key (more of a pin, straight with holes cut in it) inside it, push the knob back in and then you can open the safe handle. We called a locksmith and they said they never heard of anything like it. We think the safe is from around 1940's (based on our research) it was from an old restaurant.

Luke Miller patented a lock that sounds like yours in the late 1850's I think. I will post the Pat number when I find it. Yes lots of pictures would be nice both of safe and lock. Doug

Thanks and now I remember there is a picture of the lock in "American Genius". I don't think the key was shown though. Doug
