    Default M.H. Gelling, ironmonger, Ryde

    Here’s a couple of pics of a before and after. I can’t decide if I should enamel the engraved lettering in or not . Both came off an “impregnable fire-proof chest”. The escutcheon is not original but the other had lost its cover! The scratches around escutcheon were actually under the paint. Could be polished out but I’m not keen using the buffer on pressed plaques when they’re showing signs of abuse already.
