Nice job, I thought you might be interested to know that Ilco still offers a nickel silver equivalent key blank, No. 1031, see thumbnail attached. It is in Price group 13 with an MSRP of $173.05 per 100. One supplier that shows them as stock is Accredited Lock Supply, their Item#007711, $1.30 net each; $25.00 minimum order required.

    Pete and Nathan
Thank for information on key blank. I knew about it and have a few of it but don't know where the head the key at. The only reason i decide to make these key by hand make it just for something for me to learn of doing it. I know have to cut, file to fit the keyway, sanding, polish and whatever other need to be done. As least was lot of fun doing it just to make almost all the key i did for padlock i have. There not to many locksmith that will take the time to learn the old way of doing it. Just wish i could have a mill machine to make thing a little faster. So again Thank...Timothy.....

Timothy, if you can find a old keil 10 1/2 in good condition and reasonable, great machines for making key blanks from flat stock or out of larger keys you can machine down.for your own use. Kinda hard to find a complete working machine.

I do have two old ilco machine one it small almost like the Keil machine and the other one it big and yes they both will cut steel keys. The only problem don't like about it the it doesn't give smooth cut like you cut brass key. I have been trying to find a good steel cutter. Most time went i cut the steel key i use about 1/16" off and file it down to be sure it smooth cut to working key.....Timothy....PS thank for keys.....
