Default Older S&G Safe Combo Lock

Started working on a no name safe that I picked up in a two safe deal. S&G combo had been set to one number. Well that won't do. First, I am not a locksmith and have never worked with combo locks before. I researched this S&G lock but could only find one pic of the same lock and it was referenced to be from 1870. Found instructions for the newer S&G locks and used that to reset the combo. The change key would have been 1/8" square. I used a piece of 1/8" key stock to release the change wheels. Everything worked out fine.

Is 1870 an accurate time period for this style of S&G comb lock?
Did S&G ever make safes also? The only name on the safe is S&G on the dial.

Finished the safe. Replaced the hinge pins and locking bar lines up perfectly. Turned out pretty good.
