    Default Slaymaker Padlock: Seeking Information

    Hi everyone!
I inherited this padlock (along with many others) and am seeking information about this padlock. I discovered that it was a Slaymaker padlock. Any information about this is greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

I have no specific info about that padlock but can tell you that Slaymaker Lock Co. opened in 1888 in Lancaster, PA. The firm known successively as S.R. Slaymaker, Slaymaker-Barry Co., Slaymaker Lock Co., Fraim-Slaymaker Hardware Co. and Slaymaker Lock Co., Inc. produced high quality padlocks designed to meet every conceivable need. At one time they were the world's largest producer of railroad padlocks. They were in business for nearly a century until they closed in 1986*.

That $.25 padlock in 1913 would cost $6.39 today with a 2,454.4% cumulative rate of inflation! I'm no collector but I think early 20th century vintage as suggested by Nathan is about right.

more locks ,more pictures would help, you have any older lock please post.or not so old post to.
As for selling you can SOMETIMES get a somewhat idea by looking on ebay and another site on facebook for same type locks, but in the end you have to set YOUR price on what value you think or would accept for your locks.
Would like to see pictures of the locks ?
Keys and locks are always interesting, and older safes. Some keys are more valuable than the locks, sometimes not.
