Default Old Bramah knockoff - help with ID and dating

This might be one for Oldlock and the other Bramah gurus.

I've just bought (stupidly cheap) what I think is an old Bramah knockoff. No key.

It's definitely old, and it definitely has a lot of Bramah-esque features. It's a ledger clasp and has got:

-Four folded sliders, no false gates.
    -One central spring
-"Bramah" stamped on the body, but no date or address.
-An interesting mix of handmade and machine made parts but (to my eye anyway) not the best quality workmanship in the details.

I've put a couple of representative photos below and can add more of specific things if it'll help someone date or identify the beast.

So...what have I got? Thanks in advance gents, I'm grateful for anything you can add.
