Railway carriage locks
I'm new to this forum so forgive me if I am asking the wrong sort of questions. I am involved in railway carriage restoration on the Bluebell Railway in Sussex. Recently I was given the job of seeing what I could do to refurbish some old carriage locks. I think they date from about 1880 but some are probably a bit later. Most are made by either S. Wilkes & Son or Chatwood. The Chatwood ones are the most interesting as they have a serial number which I would like to be able to date. I know nothing about Wilkes - any information please?
Finally, can anyone give advice about someone who can supply new springs?
