    Default Old Diebold Help please.

I got an old Diebold safe in a trade and want to keep it and maybe restore and use it. Opens up fine, could use a good cleaning and a little fine tuning.

Would like to to know how old it is?

Would there be any place to find any pics of a safe around same age?

What would b an approximate value? Not selling, just wandering

Looks like it has (or had) tear gas on it. They were often mounted on the surface of the inside cover directly behind direct-drive locks. I did see one or two hidden inside the door cavity.

Members don't generally give values as they are subjective and can vary a lot, even regionally. eBay is as good a guide as any, make sure you look at completed 'sold' listings only to see what others have sold for in the last 2 months.

    Default diebold

What you have is a Diebold thin wall fire safe. The safe has a "K" lock from Diebold with a re-locker . Now the tear gas , DO NOT PLAY AROUND WITH THIS AGENT!! This compound or type of tear gas is a organic compound trade name of CHLOROPICRIN.
The housing is made of alum or pot metal. The housing comes into play when this organic compound as a oxidizer can cause toxic fumes including HYDROGEN CHORIDE and NITROGEN OXIDES. Hope this helps Tim
