Nitromorse was without doubt the best paint stripper, and a coat of that and the paint ran away screaming. But not anymore Chubby, it has been down graded by the HSE and you will find it no longer...
Several ways, but at home probably two that work. Paint stripper, but not the tame version the HSE in the UK has left us with.
For old types of paint especially the kinds found on vintage machinery...
That is certainly different and heavier, mine is without doubt boiler plate on the outer skin and about five sixteenths of an inch thick, but with heavier framing that does appear to be wrought iron....
