    Default Ancient padlock identification

I have recently acquired this old iron padlock. Can anyone tell me how old it is and the country of origin please?

It's 12 inches long and has two staples.

To insert the key one has to release the cover by turning the square at the back;then insert the key. It is only possible to release one staple at a time. To release the first one the key is turned clockwise and to release the other it is turned anti-clockwise.

    Timothy,

Yes, of a similar concept but much more of an "engineered" version. The language at the heading I believe is French ?
