Default Joseph L Hall Huge 5"x8" 17 lb Vault Door Combination Lock Mechanism w/Spindle & Knob

Stamped Joseph L Hall May 5 1863 Patent on Bolt, it has a Sargent Greenleaf bolt extention. Measures 5 by 8 inches and weighs 17 lbs. Has wheel inside spindle assembly and then a 3 wheel pack at the rear (not sure if that makes it a 4 wheel lock or 3- safe locks aren't my specialty. I collect Jail locks.

Which brings me to the rumor and innuendo. When I bought this lock 6 years ago, the seller claimed it was from a Kitchen storage vault at the now demolished British Columbia Penitentiary. I have no definitive proof of this. But the listing did include photos of the interior of Penitentiary, before it was demolished, that seemed to indicate the seller had been employed there. The size of lock is larger than most safe locks. But the form factor of the bolt spacing is consistent with the form factor of othe prison vault locks in my collection. (I have a Folger Adam lock with Medeco Mogul Cylinder that was removed from a Prison Safe by a Folger employee that has a similar 7x4" Bolt Spacing form factor).

I am listening to offers for it.
