The Ilco 2196 is actually the venerable Keil 6-1/2 "turret" rebadged as an Ilco machine. Ilco acquired Francis Keil & Son which was founded in 1876 during the early 1930s depression years and marketed identical machines under both marques. That machine is much sought after for making flat & bit keys and I've seen them selling for more than the original cost in good condition. I've also seen them in such poor condition that the only use might be for a boat anchor! In 1971 the dealer net was $530.00 US. Keil No. 6 (Ilco 196) was the key machine only while Keil No. 6-1/2 (Ilco 2196) was mounted on a board with motor. All the listed cutters are still available as replacement parts from Ilco but no other parts are extant. You should specify the voltage as export machines were often provided with 220 volt motors. See thumbnail attached, click to enlarge.

    According to my information, the machine originally was furnished with cutters: 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17 & 28.
Suggested dealer prices in US Dollars for the cutters you listed:

    • 13 slotter 2-1/16" x .072" $57.08
    • 14 T cutter 2" x 7/16" $131.93
    • 15 ward cutter 1-3/8" x .085" $48.93
    • 17 slotter 2-1/16" x .274" $75.95 (discontinued)
    • 28 rotary file 2-1/6" x .250" $25.70
    • 32 slotter 2-1/6" x .030" $62.43

Hard to say, stateside $300-$400 US in very good condition would be fair. Crating and shipping as well as import duty from Romania would be a major issue and you would need to provide a firm quote for that to the buyer based upon his location. Probably weighs at least 100 pounds and might need a new motor compatible with the voltage at destination. Maybe someone here would be interested?

    thx for the information.
It seems to me that it is to complicated to sell it and ship it to the USA.
    But we will see,maybe...
I would be willing to sell it for 400$ or 350 euros.
It is i fair condition needs oiling and dust removing ,i still from time to time cut some cylinder key for me :)

I just saw an offering for one on a locksmiths' web site from the State of Georgia in the US for $700.00 + actual shipping, said to be in "very good condition".

    Default Operating Instructions

    Pete:

Do you have operating instructions for the 2196 or
any of the variants that you could post? It looks like
    an interesting machine.

    Thanks! Robert
