    Default Vintage bagpipe case lock

    Hello -

I purchased an old set of bagpipes that were made in Edinburgh and that came in what I believe is the original wooden case. I haven't been able to determine when the pipes were made, but someone suggested that the lock, keys, and latches on the case might provide a clue for someone who's interested in historical locks. I've attached three pictures, and would greatly appreciate any help that you can provide as to when this case may have been made.

    Thank you very much!

Hi, you haven't actually shown a picture of the lock, but pictures of it removed could be helpful if the lock looks to be original. The keys may not be original but are probably 1940-1990. The keyhole cover looks older than 1970, but that is a deliberately vague guess. It could be much older.
