Thursday 28th September from 16.30 greetings and assembly in our function room at the hotel which will be exclusively for our use for the whole of weekend. and will have its own bar for when we are officially using the room, at all other times we can use the hotel bar and take drinks etc into our main room. At around 18.30 we will enjoy a set meal of a choice of pizza with fries and dressings. this evening has no end time and is over when the last person leaves the room to go to bed!
Friday 29th September, Breakfast from 07.30 again in our room leaving at 09.30 by coach transfer to the Master Locksmith Association head office at Rugby. At Rugby we will be hosted in small groups in the Heritage room where Brian will give in depth talks on the artefacts on display which will include the world class exhibit from the 1851 Great Exhibition known as the Aubin Trophy, Running alongside Brian will be an exhibition of pieces from our own collections and short lectures explaining the pieces, this will include items like the Cyrus Price showcase of locks that won a bronze medal at the London International Exhibition of 1862. Lunch will be a sandwich type packed meal for those who have pre-ordered it.
The Master Locksmith Association will also provide tours of its on-site testing laboratory calledd Sols Secure where locks and security items are tested against written standards to assess their suitability to be marketed.
From 14.30 back at the hotel those who have booked a table for the market can set-up, access for heavy items can be easily brought into the room as it has direct access from the free car park and indeed if the weather is kind the outside space is willingly given if anyone wishes to sell from their vehicle of even set up in the car park itself and the connecting doors to outside can remain open.
Those at MLA Rugby will leave on the coach at 16.00 to arrive at the hotel for the market opening at 17.00. Again the market will be held in our function room which has a split level and we will also eat our evening meal on the upper part of the room so the market in effect can carry on until the last table has had enough. The evening meal will be a hot buffet style meal with several choices, details to be announced in due course. Again our room will have its own bar, and hotel bar will also be open. Again there is no set time for the night to end and will go on as long as we wish it to.
Saturday 30th Breakfast from 08.00 in our main room. We will leave the hotel by coach no later than 10.00 am where we will be visiting at least two museums and one historic building in the Nottinghamshire area, details are not yet fully agreed but this day will not be focussed on lock related exhibits and one in fact is probably the best example of a preserved late Victorian drinking water pumping station anywhere in the world and is not to be missed. The lunch arrangement for this day is not yet finalised but will be in place for those who have pre-ordered it when our booking form is issued.
