Default I live in the desert with a padlock with no name

I picked up an old padlock to use on an antique Mexican curio cabinet. It is not meant to lock the cabinet but just for ascetics. The shackle swings freely , I hang it from a chain on the cabinet doors. Now I would like to find out about the lock. Also wondering if it is possible to get a key for it. There are no markings on it and the keyhole cover is quite scratched up.
Can anyone get me started on my research?

To my eyes this looks like a decorative lock made in Aligarh (India), possibly yesterday. The rivets seem much larger than needed, and the brass looks like it was finished on a grinder.

    But I've been wrong before!

That would explane the lack of markings. Were these operable ? It would be more interesting if it closed.
Please tell me I don't have to call customer service in Delhi !!!

I believe most of these are functional if you have the key but I would not trust them to provide good security. You could check around local locksmiths to see if any of them can make a key for you, or at least get it locked by manipulating it.
