    Default Bell/Mills key blanks wanted

I know it is probably a long shot but here goes.... I am looking for key blanks for Bell\Dudley locks and/or Mills novelty machines. These are the "sidewinder" keys that have also see use on parking meters and other cabinet locks. I now have a key machine to cut these (Keil #7) and would like to duplicate some of the single keys I have on my slot machine and parking meters.

I believe these blanks to be Ilco 1033d (preferred) or 1033F.

Thanks in advance to anyone with leads or information about these blanks.

Thanks Pete, very much appreciated! I am not a locksmith but requested an account with H.L. Flake anyhow. Hopefully we can come to some sort of agreement.

    Jim.
The old Keil 7/7-1/2 machine used the Keil #8 end mill, this was replaced by Ilco #17MC which is unfortunately now discontinued. Gil-Ray Tools in Bay City, MI specializes in key machine cutters and may be able to repair your present cutter or make a new one, website here:
    http://www.gilraytools.com/home
There is also a firm in Switzerland, SELECTION Tools & Cutters Ltd.; who make cutters for many key machines including OEM for HPC, Framon & Rytan in the USA as well as replacements for other machines worldwide, although I don't see 17MC listed, they have the capability to make one, presuming they have the specs; website:

Hi Jim - Without having had access to the wealth of knowledge Pete has I ended up making my own cutter out of current stocking end mills. I bought a double-ended end mill from http://www.globalindustrial.com/sear...ox=&q=30817266 then cut it in half to make two end mills. They had to be shortened a bit more (from 1" to 7/8th" OAL) to fit the Keil 7 and also needed a flat spot milled in for the grub screw but appear from my initial testing to work fine.

If you have luck with any of Pete's suggestions please let me know.

    HTH,
    Greg

If anyone is looking for a repairable Keil 7 1/2 and some NOS Ilco blanks for Mills slot machine you should check out our friends over at Coin-op Collector Forum. I ordered a box of keys blanks but the machine looks to be in need of a guide pin and depth rod for the milling cutter (which appears to be lying on the base of the machine). This looks slightly different from the 7 1/2 I have but I am not an expert.

Found some Bell Lock blanks on eBay. Kind of pricey but depending on what you need them for it might be a steal. Haha. Might go cheap because they never mentioned brand or anything in the auction.

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/142008081965
