Default Little Sweetheart of a Padlock by blacksmith Kevin Moreau

Made by hand much the same as in the 1600-1700's. This one of the smallest padlocks Kevin has made, and after watching him work for a couple days on a small ball padlock, a great deal of handwork goes into making a lock like this. Even the key stem and bit, often called a drilled key, is actually made of thin sheet, rolled and soldered. The shackle is made of "Damascus" steel, a re- vitalized blacksmithing process popular with blacksmiths since the 1970's, most commonly seen in knifemaking. Doug

Beautiful work, I would love to see them in person, only seen examples of his work in pictures on the net. Some of the rim locks he had on his site were equally impressive.
Love the style of that one and the grain effect on the shackle.

Unfortunately I didn't make the padlock, but I will relay your sentiment to the maker, Kevin Moreau. He is, as you say, a true craftsman.
