    Default Tiny Treasure

This is my favorite key of my father's collection. I've worn it on a chain for many years and have no clue what the key was used for or how old it may be. Any ideas? Milissa

The picture is from the Volume 45 catalog of the Eagle lock Co. issued in 1925. It seems that your key is a combination of the bow from a 5001 and a blade from a 5074 1/2. The catalog states that the company was established in 1833, incorporated in 1854 and chartered in 1882. They were a manufacturer of all types of locks but ultimately went out of business in the mid 1950's.

In 1925 the $1.80 price was significant, the pric of a similar blank without the ornate bow in the same catalog is $.75.
