    Default Best and worse buy

Hi all, being a collector of safe keys I sometimes get a bargain and sometimes a flop. I bought this key off eBay covered in rust and seeming a steal. Only when i received it did I realise I had a dummy. I cleaned it up and ever since it has been growing on me. It's probably one of the worse copies I have ever seen but it just shows how much effort has gone into it that you realise to what extent someone has went to to decieve. I realise it could just be something ornamental that someone has honestly had an attempt to make, but I doubt it. Ever since I have came across genuine warded safe keys that have been mended after the bow has snapped off through the door slamming into an adjacent wall and the skill involved amazes , real quality craftsmanship, unlike this one. Enjoy the pics.

Warren, it is possible the key was made as a replacement for a lost key. Doug

Ouch that's grim. I can't imagine that being a key made to deceive though like Doug says more than likely a poorly made additional copy or replacement. Wonder how many grinder discs he broke cutting it..

Got a few stories an experiences to add on this so will come back later when I've got more time

I agree it is just a poor copy. That would be too much effort to be a fake....as it would work as a key.
