    Default Mortise Lock part identification.

    Hello all,

I'm hoping someone here will be able to identify a part I need to fix an old mortise lock. I'm looking for a piece for a 65+ year old residential mortise lock that mounts in where a mortise cylinder would normally screw in, but acts as an actuator for a thumb turn.

The thumb turn is nearly identical to this one http://www.houseofantiquehardware.com/v ... turn-brass

The piece I'm looking for can be seen in this photo in the bottom left part of the case.

Additionally I could use a good source for spare parts for older mortise hardware. There's a Baldwin distribution center in town, but they don't have much in compatible parts.

Contact the Cleveland Key Shop at 216-241-6074. Get their email address and sent your pictures. They have a pretty good selection of old mortise lock parts. Doug

I believe what you are seeking is a "turn knob disc", Ilco still offers a universal one, their P/N 704-04-11. Sugg. list $18.85 ea., available from most locksmith wholesalers, your locksmith can order one for you if he doesn't happen to have it in stock. See image at the link:

Please be aware, if the return spring on the cam disc is broken, it's worse than useless-it can jam the bolt so it won't work from the outside with a key.
