Eric, It's hard to set a price because the lock was buried for some time. It's hard to tell without inspecting it closely if the inside mechanism is intact or rusted beyond use. I really would like to own the lock, but if it's in really good shape inside it could bring $500 or more, which right now is outside of my price range. You might be better off trying to sell it on Ebay and put a $500 reserve on it.Or if you want to part with it cheaply drop me a line( wishful thinking on my part ) Mark.

I was in a book store a couple of weeks ago and I was looking through some antique books and I found a canteen lock. Said it's value was $900 but that must mean in working order and key, right??

Lol, I'm sorry mark. If I had two you would definately have one. It has sentimental value to me so I won't care if it sells but I need the extra cash in all since I have a little one on the way. I appreciete all your guys help with this, I find myself looking for locks at every yardsale and or antique shop I go to now. I think I'm going to be a lifer on this site.
