large old key

I recently found this very large rusty key in my garden. I am intrigued by it, and wonder if anyone can shed any light on it. my garden is within a couple of metres of a medeival castle. Could this be a medeival find??????

Hi Joan.

Quite possible that the key may have been chucked over a wall. It's worth having the key x-rayed to see what it really looks like to establish what sort of lock it was made for.
