    Default key from poland??

    hello,

    i got a key from a friend,
    he told me it is from poland.

    does anybody know more?
    do you have pictures to compare?
    somthing about the age?

    in germany we do not have this kind.

    very difficult to date but looks typical 14th to 15th century at least. Styles crossed over between many countries so i'd guess confirmation of origins impossible- it's always going to be open to question. From memory there are similar keys in the Vincent eras book but can't remember any with such a heavily flattened bow as yours. very nice key though

    thank you for your answer.

    i know the Vincent Eras book.

    it has got some pictures with keys from 13-16th century
    but all the keys are from France, i could not find one from
    eastern Europe, and no key which is similar to the key i
    have shown.

    please see page 35/28, 61/84, 63/88

    in Germany we have romanesque (or older) keys with
    a similar bow, but bits are different, no breaking throughts,
    and they all are hollow.
