No luck with hitting the bolts. The middle and top one feels solid but the bottom seems to have a lot of play in it. It looks as though the cover to the lock has been damaged or removed previously. Looks like a large chuck of concrete is falling out from behind the door. I have lots of pics to share. I also put my phone inside with the light and camera on and found what appears to be another lock box .

So I think if I were to cut the handle off the inside door on the right it would give me enough space to open the other door which would give me access to the inside of this safe. Is that a bad idea? What are these handles typically made of?

well my anxiety got the best of me and decided i would try and cut the handle off the inner door in hopes that it would open far enough to release the other inner door. got my sawzal out and quickly cut through the brass handle (not sure if that was a bad idea or not yet. hopefully not). and viola, the safe door opened. after 30 some years of wondering whats inside, it took a matter of seconds to get it open. inside i found this

I picked up up and shook it around to see if anything was inside. i hear something light but solid moving around. of course by now I'm real excited to know whats in there. i took a flat head screw driver and hit the lock in from the side of the box, open the door and found a loose wooden divider moving around inside :( I kind of figured that there was nothing in there but i was obviously hoping for something. Anything at all would have been cool to find, even if it didn't have any value. Oh well I guess. At least I got it open and there is no more wondering.

I'd still like to know a rough value of the safe as is and if there is any value in restoring it.

Thanks for everyone's help here so far

Well now, let's see the end results photo's!

Not sure damaging that mini-vault was a good idea as these tend to have a demand...

That lock box got me so excited I didn't bother taking pics of the inside lol. Ill get some soon though. I don't know if id say I damaged the lock box. I just pushed the lock lever in from the side of the box. Didn't hit it with a hammer. It went in pretty easily. I couldn't wait any longer to find out what was inside lol.

frustration creeps into all of us now and again...

I've got a small safe that the combo does not want to play anymore,
has me about at wits end . . . I'm thinking it may be time for some C4 and det-cord....
