    Default Miller 6 lever padlock

    Hi again,
Thank you all so much for your help with these padlocks.
I just acquired this lock on Ebay. I'd love to know as much about it as possible.
    Thank you again,
    Rick Guenther.

Based on the Miller scroll trademark, your padlock cannot be older than October 1906. If I were to venture a guess, I would say your padlock probably dates between 1915 and the 1930s.

    Default Thank you

Thank you for your expertise. It's amazing that it is that old. The mechanics inside work perfect, including the spring.

The Miller Lock Co. of Philadelphia, PA was in business from 1870-1930 at which time it was sold to Yale & Towne Mfg. Co.*

is marked on the back of this lock. Would that date the lock as post 1930?
    Thank You,

Apparently so, presumably Yale continued to manufacture goods under the Miller marque subsequent to the acquisition.

Sorry I missed the inscription on the back. (It was difficult to read in the photo.) I was wrong when I said it was perhaps being made as late as the 1930s. Many of the Miller padlocks, including the well known Champion push-key padlocks, had been absorbed into the Yale line by 1929. Below are two pages from the 1929 Yale catalog. Notice that the Yale padlock even has the same shaped bow on the key.
