    Tom, I should have known you would show one. I guess this is where I would insert one those little smilie faces but I don't know how. If that little one was originally sold in England I would say it has a keylock because of the fairly strong resistance to comb locks there at the time. I have seen models of other U.S. safes made for foreign markets that were not sold here. But I would also be a bit surprised if Meilink was importing to England back then but then who knows. Much like my surprise when you showed that Chatwood cannonball. Doug

    I think that you are right. The safes like this over here often had keylocking but my mind is a bit vague about which makes of safe I have seen.

    Totally forgotten I had copied a 1910 Meilink catalog. Turns out they were importing everywhere and key locks were available on most of the models. Doug

    With seeing a catalog cut I would lean to this was a conversion or a repair. Either way it is a cooler lock being this safe was one of a kind with that lock on it.

    Wish I'de seen Tom's picture before I lettered and striped it...could have matched up the graphics exactly.

    I have owned and seen several with the key and hadn't thought about it to realise that they did them with a combo.
    There is always someone here who has some useful info or pictures
