So What do you want to know? Are you trying to sell it? Drop me a personal message on here and we'll talk. I might be interested if the price is right. Mark

I saw the same lock on first-net-museum with an Ebay hammer price of $2114.00. It belonged to a grandfather who got the idea that it had Revolutionary War significance, and he inscibed his name and
"lock used on Major Andre"s cell" on the sides." I have not come to a price yet, and may put it on Ebay.

Could you post what the trick is with this lock? Maybe a pic of the trick?

IDK. The trick seems to be getting it to open.

Just a point worthy of note - the high value of the lock mentioned above was probably more related to the historical significance (I expect it must have had a good provenance) than to the lock itself. While trick locks such as this are worth good amounts I've not seen one sell for the kind of price before for 'just the lock'.

Default price of HC Jones trick lock

It's on Ebay now, and has 12 watchers. Bob Dix of ALCA told me that an unmarked one is worth $1800,and a marked one is worth about twice that. In the place called reality, something is worth what you can get for it at the moment.

I stand corrected as to potential value, Bob is an acknowledged expert in such matters.

However your second point is well made and true, it is also alas a point few people seem to get when they have items for sale.

I wish you luck with the auction, feel free to post a link to the item.

:Literally. I cannot do that. I have never got the hang of cut and paste. When I click Cut, nothing seems to happen. The URL is too bloody long and code crammed to hand copy. Can you get to Ebay/USA? It's under Collectibles/hardware/locks.
