    Default Walker & Worsey Plate

Here is a rather nice plate I picked up a while ago off a safe that I opened. If anyone knows any history of this company I would be glad to know.

Default Walker & Worley safe makers

Well here lies a little mystery.

The only thing found so far, is that they are listed as a Safe maker in 1888 at 34-35 High Holborn & Sedgley.

I suggest if you have time, you can do a trade directories search of the era. Type 'trade Directories' in your browser & follow the tedious links.

Now to further aid ALL of us, the following sites have a font of great informative history.

    They are as follows
    www.safeman.org
    www.lockcollectors.eu
    www.historyoflocks.com
    www.localhistory.scit
    www.lockcollectors.com
    www.timhunkin.com (thats a hoot)

There are many more to be found when you start peeling away the layers of subtafuge.

    Have fun
    Regards

    Hi again Russell,
Many thanks for the info. When I have enough time I will try to do a little more digging, many thanks for your help on this.
I have not seen this maker before so I don't know how rare it is ! ! Nice to know is from about 1888 though. I always like the old stuff best.
    Thanks again
    Tim
