Default Day & Newell exhibition lock

This is the original 15 lever Day & Newell exhibition Paurotoptic lock bought to the UK from America by A.C.Hobbs. The key however is a later replacement made by Tom Watson. This lock was, although I doubt they know it - the property of Chubbs on loan to the museum.

Went to the Museum sat pm to have a look myself. Never realised it was so big, none of the pictures I have seen gave any scale....

I can see why it cost the price of a small house, I should imagine it took longer to build. All handmade too, I wonder what a faithful replica would cost today? If anyone can still do it.

Well worth the tube ride :-)

That one is much much bigger than the standard production versions.
