As is said Set U.S. mean they buy is in set of with other padlock in differ set off key. Those that are in each set come with master key for each set of padlock. As far what was stamp on the padlock that the military code number they are the one to keep track of there set of padlock.....Timothy.....
these locks impression fairly easily, the codes are not available to the public,(generally). If there was a code stamped on the cylinder you could find the bitting. As Timothy stated most are master keyed in sets.

If there is a code on the key ,the cuts are different than what codes are published.
****NOTE****Your key show stamp number that would be cut on your key. If have a letter with four number that would be American Lock code number. They will not give you that code number as they never have as long they been running.....Timothy.....
While his key is stamped with a code, that is not the direct digit code you might normally find on an American Lock key. His has a blind code and that can be determined because the stamped code has a zero in it. American Locks do not have a zero depth.
My understanding of the US Set marking is that it indicates that there is more than one lock keyed alike in a set. This does not indicate MK'ing although the lock may be part of a master keyed system.

You are right about the "0" cut forgot all about it that American doesn't have "0" cut.....Timothy....
