Can anyone help me with identifying this safe. I think it is a Tann Krona. I have an opportunity to buy it for $2200.00. Does the info on the tag refer to the year of manufacture. Can anyone tell me what the resistance grade would be. And to any U.S.A. members what the UL equivalent would be. Also anything in particular i should be careful of. Thanks in advance for any help.
If there is just a label for fire resistance, then it is probably just a fire safe without burglary resistance.
This is where i am getting confused, i thought the V3 was a level of security resistance. So now i have no idea what type of safe this is. I was told it weighs 2900 lbs. If this helps, the size is approx 60hx30wx34dQuote:

Is it a standard S&G magic module format? Or is it bigger?
I have looked at a lot of marketing on the different Tann models of the same period, The only reference i can find on the locks is that it is a S&G and it is a four number combination. Not having worked with many of these i do not know if the three wheel pack has the same footprint as the four and if it is, what model i should use to replace the missing one.Quote:

I haven't paid much attention to foreign safe ratings, so no help there. I did very recently open a very similar looking Swedish Tann that turned out to be a labeled TRTL30X6. If your safe does not have a UL burglary label,. I would use a 3 wheel S&G 6730 lock, and a big NO on using an electronic lock. Depending on door thickness, you may need a longer spindle than what normally comes with the lock.
You have a old style Tann shovel handle type TRTL30x6. The safe was imported in the
late 1970's to the late 1980's . The missing lock is a S&G 6741 4 wheel lock. The door should be around 5 1/4" thick. This is from the face to the bed plate of the lock area.
You can used a electronic lock. The locks that most used on this style of door are S&G titan pivot or direct drive . You can use Amsec ESLXL 10 or 20 also, Kaba. Just check the measurement of the door face to the lock body area. Also you can put a S&G 8500
type mechanic lock on it . hope this helps Tim
Tim, I think you mean a 6731 not 6741. Also as I remember, a group 1 lock was required on a TRTL30X6, and I don't remember a 4 wheel 6731 qualifying as a Group 1 lock, but it has been a long time since I looked at the ratings. However, not having the UL label ( or does it?), any lock will suffice. To my knowledge, the 3 wheel S&G 6730 is a more reliable lock than any you listed, but then again I am old fashioned.
Gentlemen, The safe does not have a U.L. label. I did contact a gentleman by the name of Mike Palmer, i was told that he worked for Tann many years ago. After forwarding him the info that i uploaded on this forum he told me that this safe was marketed in Europe as the Tann Super Treasury which was the precursor to the TST range of safes. He also advised me that the security rating was a grade five. Safeman, thank you for posting the information on the Swedish Institute V3 security information, After some more research i discovered that the Tann TRTL30x6LW has the exact same measurements as my safe, even the weight is the same. Does anyone know what year Tann was awarded the 30x6 rating. Just Curious. I have decided to put the 3 wheel S&G on the safe, that plus the 9 lever keylock is probably more than adequate for my home. I would sincerely like to thank everyone for there help and information.
If it is a Super Treasury, then you have got yourself a tremendous safe. At the time it was second only to the mighty Tann Diamond, which was about the best production sfae that there was at the time.
When I first answered your post I said " I suggest that the Krona would fall into the TRTL30x6 catagory." The only Tann safe I can recollect having a UL label was marketed as the Nordic TRTRL30, not the x6 classification. The used safe market in the US when offering Tann products such as the Fortress, Bankers, and Diamond use the term "equivalent TRTL " followed by a classification. I think I may have already mentioned that the UL tests have a fundemental difference in how they define 'FAIL' which differ from the European Standards and which create design features which many would find unrealistic and unnecessary in criminal situations.Quote:

You might contact dormakaba Mauer Mas .... whatever they are called where you live. They still produce and sell Convar locks and hence might also sell keysets.
