Part(s) for what I believe to be an antique diebold combination safe

I recently bought an old Diebold combination floor safe off of craigslist. It has a combination lock on the outer door and I have all of the parts for it but it also has an inner door with a combination lock that is missing what I believe is called the gate.

I need help identifying and locating the part(s) it's missing.

I can almost certainly say that this is a Diebold safe... the outer combination lock has Diebold on it and I cleaned the outer door and can still make out the Diebold name arched across it

From what I can see your lock has four 2.5" wheels. Dial center to handle center should be 5.75". Dial may have a May 23, 1871 patent date. You are missing the LEVER and lock BOLT. Good luck in locating the parts needed.

Both the outer Diebold combination lock and the inner Diebold combination lock have the same patent date on them May 28 1871.

The outer door combination lock has a 3-wheel pack and the inner door combination lock which you see in the previous pictures has a 4-wheel pack. I tried the fence and bolt from the outer door's combination lock on the inner door's combination lock and it will work but will need some machining on the bolt as it sticks out too far to let the 2 dog legs (located directly to the right side of the bolt) come together in order to slide in all of the locking bars.

Will add much more pics including the whole safe and will also ad more information soon... still going to be in the 90's for the next few days here in Ohio and so not very comfortable working in the garage

The May 23, 1871 patent date probably refers to US patent 115,230 which is for a zero-change mechanism.

The other possibility is US patent 115,231 which is for an unusual lock bolt arrangement.

Thanks for the information :o) Would you send the link(s) to the descriptions/pictures on these patents? I tried searching them a few different ways but got no results

Both of the May 23, 1871 patents were for the Jacob Obernessor modifications made to the Diebold Kienzle locks of the time. Only the "O" change applies to the lock in question. The other patent is for the anti- manipulation device used on the Diebold Kienzle and later Diebold "Peerless" locks. Doug

Sorry it has been little while since I've been able to reply. I looked at the patent/pics of the locks you posted and those don't look like what goes in my Diebold safe

Here's a picture of the lock from the safe's outer door which will be very similar if not the same as the lock for the inner door.

It is certain that my inner door does not use the pac man style lock like the ones in the pictures you posted
