UNION ptpk padlock
I recently acquired an old Made in England UNION ptpk padlock with a key.
The lock was quite rusted, the insides were a bit gungy and the spring was broken but they did work.
I disassembled the lock and cleaned the body with a vinegar solution and then applied a coating of gun oil. I cleaned the pins and springs and replaced the broken shackle spring using a spring from an old Yale ptpk padlock.
The key pins were a bit worn and measured .120" diameter and the driver pins measured .113" diameter, I used the original pins in the reassembled lock.
The key is original to the lock and looks like a flat key but has a "T" shape at the bottom and looks identical to a key I have that is marked "G. W. Todd" probably for an old check writer.
I've attached some photos and a picture that I got at antique-padlocks.com.
I hope that someone finds this interesting and or useful.
