Thread: Yale double pin dial timelock

This is a fine example of one of the most desirable timelocks ever produced by any manufacturer. Made by the Yale Lock Mfg in around 1880, the first and most expensive model they ever produced at $500 in it's standard form. An optional " day of week " control attachment was available for an extra $50.



A unique feature of this type of timelock is it's ability of go " on " and " off " guard, unlike all other timelocks which can only go off guard when they run down. As such it is designed to run continuously, however if allowed to run down completely go off guard. The movements were produced by E Howard & Co of Boston, and examples are known in 48, 56 & 72 hour versions. The lock is simply and quickly set via the numbered pins on the dials, the white infill for daytime and black for night.



A point to note with this lock is that it was designed prior to the adoption of modular movements, as such the hole double movement plate would have to be removed for servicing. A fine lock and a work of art of the highest quality.
