Default Information wanted on this French lock with Triangular Drill Pin & Key

    Hi there

I hope that I am not annoying the forum here with my recent flurry of questions, it just seems that coincidently some mysterious locks have found their way to me in the last months.

This is a French lock with a triangular drill pin and corresponding key (which I believe is original).

Might anyone know the approximate age of this lock?

My sincerest thanks to anyone who can help.

    Default triangular drill pin

ERAS p84 top shows a German lock c1750 with a triangular drill pin, lock and key both very ornate. P97 also shows diagrams of some more profile drill pins, including playing card suits. So 18C onwards into early 19C. Such drill pins were not vanishingly rare on the Continent, but generally seem to be a sign of good quality. Making these profiles in iron is not trivial; unlike brass, iron cannot be extruded.

ERAS, Vincent J M Locks and keys throughout the ages. 1957 etc.
