All I can say for sure is that it is Austrian.

From the name my guess would be more Slavic like possibly Chech. Bob Stableys friend Igor would probably know the maker.

I go with the Austrian-Wien is the local name for Vienna.

thank you all.
i know now (did some hard work on the internet) it is Austrian about 100 years old but my problem is that i need to insure it and i do not know what to tell the insures company.
i can not find a price list for a safe like that.
any idea ?

So much for my guess. Never been to Europe and don't know German. So Wein would be Ve-en huh? There is a website in Europe called something like "antique safe collector" not to be confused with Guy Zani the Antique Safe Collector here in the US. They might be in Belgium and they have safes of your type on their website. There is also a US website for Heritage Antiques in Dallas TX that also has a few of that type. Also a London site and one from Indonesia but don't remember the names. Both of these sites have restored versions of these type of European safes from the latter 1800's and get big money for them.

This safe is made in the city of "Wien" between 1880-1910. You amerikan call it "Vienna". I have 3 similar safe's. The lock is well done, but they have very bad security. The front door look solid, but is made by very thin steel plate, about 2-4mm. You can cut it with very simple tools.
