This lock appears courtesy of it's owner - Michael Fincher of the United Kingdom.

This is a most interesting lock, this lock, as shown on the dial was originally fitted to a Milners safe, and Milners added their name to the engraving on the dial :

Milners, Kromer Patent Keyless Secret Combination Lock

In common with other Kromer locks, the design and method of locking is quite different to any other lock, rather than throwing a bolt in the ' conventional ' manner the lock contains a pivoting arm which is allowed to tilt when the lock is open.

A more interesting variation is the method by which the combination is set, rather that two sets of toothed wheels which can intermesh at preset positions, this lock employs a locking cam which will allow the combination to be set to half numbers either by design or accident.

An extremely rare and interesting lock, with only a few known examples. My thanks to Mike for sharing it with us.
