    Default Questions answered

    Hi Michael123,

    Sorry about the very long time lag from your question and my answer.

    Up first, my lock is not for sale. I have a very large collection of safe and vault related items, and continue to enjoy them.

    Second, the measurements of the lock are as follows:

    Dial ring:
    Side to side = 3.75"
    Protruding = 1.75"

    Lock body:
    H= 4.25"
    W= 3.50"
    D= 1.625"

    Body is 18 gage formed sheet metal, Brass plated.
    Dial and Dial ring appears to be cast white metal.

    Interesting note, the dial is removable from the outside by a "hidden" spline key under a screw plug in the center of the dial. This is also a punch proof spindle.

    Default 6 number Rosengren K/C lock

    Well heres a turn up you just can't get away from work can you? As I wanted just to see the operating instruction again, downloading the pdf leaflet file. It said **** city centre branch on it ! So I seem to recall that at one time Iv'e probably worked on that door, that lock was fitted on, Though due to many failures of that type of K/C lock most have been replaced over ther years with another type of lock.

    I have about four or five of these locks and quite a few dials, dial rings, dial spindles, dial locks and dial housings so I will find them out when time allows and post up on the thread if any ones interested?

    You are more than welcome to offer any lock in the Buy/Sell section of the forum. I know I would be looking at it to see how much you would offer it for.

    Default Rosengrens CNAB-6 Combination Lock

    A unique lock, and not one commonly seen in the US. I have a few of them I acquired during a visit to the UK. Some Rosengrens safe models, like the Saturnus and Jupiter were delivered to NYC locations with these locks installed in the 1980’s when imports of European high-security safes were at an all time high.

    The later cnab6 locks I have seen had a relocker added in the side of the lock case if I remember correctly, I will see if I can dig one out for a picture.

    Default CNAB6 inturnal relocker

    The internal Spring loaded relock device that was fitted on the CNAB6, there are none fitted on the IX ones that I have here. I always thought that it was not fitted on the later ones. Though someone here here will correct me I hope? As the bankers safes and doors had a whole host of other AED's fitted to them, and still will have.
    The engineers that I met all though the lock was clever design, but as for the abuse it took in bank branchs the lock was not that good (though as long as the combination was changed properly) perhaps it would have had longer life span. As I said earlier most of the SRD's that did have them on where modified to have other K/C locks fitted.

    Hiya Ant, most of the ones I have seen on safes and strongrooms were dated late 60's to early 70's. I may have it the wrong way round date wise, but I thought it was the later ones I normally see that had the internal relocker.Here are some pictures of the only ones I can find at the moment & these weren't dated as far as I can see, but at least they show the differences. If I can dig any of the others out I will check the dates.

    Default AED relocker on Rosengren CNAB-6

    Well I may not have it right either, but the dates were on a green label on the top of the lock? I think the ones with X1 inside on the bottom left are the ones with no internal AED so the ones with the relocker have no marking inside; making them earlier or later? what they do have is the full size lable on the back telling you not to lubricate it (picture of an oil can) in about 10 language's so perhaps they are later. Though it didn't stop them all being replaced did it or are there still some out there in the wilds.
    By the way have you ever stripped any down and rebuilt? Ive done a couple and was amazed at how complex it is for what it does.
