S&G model B timelock.
This is an interesting example of a Sargent & Greenleaf model B timelock. It was made circa 1895 - 1898 but was not used until it was fitted to a Chubb strongroom which was exhibited in Paris in 1904 and subsequently purchased by an English bank.

The internal decoration is indicative of the earlier date. The Chubb plate is not original, the Sargent & Greenleaf plate has been removed and replaced as Chubb's hated to use a lock with another makers name. Unlike the earlier and larger locks the modular movement design has been adopted, allowing individual movements to be removed for service.

My thanks to John Errol for his assistance in dating this lock.
