Default What's the story on this lock?

I found this masterlock about 6 years ago, I saw it sitting in some gravels next to the highway.

I guess I'm just curious about it, because I always kept it because I thought it was cool.

When I found it, it was unlocked. I immediately snapped it closed, and it's been locked ever since.

It is an old Master #66 lever type lock, very commonly used in the 1970's and 1980's. There are a ton of them out there if you look around. They also made a #44 (small) and a #55 (medium) and some variations of them throughout the years. I have quite a few of these locks (all sizes) in my collection. I wish I could tell you that it is worth something but it is darn near worthless in the condition it is in and without a working key. I like these Master lever locks....they have old-world charm. Here are some pics of a few of mine:

I am glad to hear that other people have an appriciation for these locks, the same as I do.

    Hey, thanks for the info.

I didn't really think about it's value, didn't really expect it to be worth anything.

I'm not sure it works any more, the center round piece where the key enters seems to be free-spinning, unless that is normal.

The spinning is normal and if it locked without any trouble, then it is probably in working order.
