Bronze keys on Ebay
I have seen lots of iron and bronze keys on Ebay lately. I'm not a collector or an expert. After reading the posts here I guess these are Indian? Some have 'authentification certificates' one is definitely an 11th century castle key! Several were 'found by metal detector in Norfolk'. Anyone have any comments? Some sellers have several similar items for sale at any one time. Are there so many gullible people around - or am I a suspicious old cynic?

It's quite probable that there are many more keys than locks in the world.
Almost anything shipped over from China or the Far East will be a reproduction. All the "Dragon locks" and the like are cheaply cast copies from old designs, and I'm sure they copy the key designs, too.
I'm sure a few have been dug up from a field in Norfolk, but I doubt anyone buying "antiques" off eBay actually expects the genuine article.
