    Default S&G 951 padlock

I noticed that S&G has a new padlock, the 951. This was spotted on the DOD lock program web site (https://portal.navfac.navy.mil/porta...nfesc_pp/locks) and just recently one showed up on eBay and sold for $610 (NIB HIGH SECURITY PADLOCK SARGENT & GREENLEAF W/ 3 KEYS - eBay (item 190369781257 end time Feb-07-10 18:01:40 PST)). So, does anybody have any details on the new product? S&G's own web site mentions nothing. It looks just like the 833, except with a newer M3 Medeco cylinder instead of the Biaxial.

I don't think the cylinder is an M3, just biaxial.
I heard the 951 has more ceramic inserts.

The keys shown with that lock are definitely not M3.

Here is a link directly to the DOD web page on the 951: https://portal.navfac.navy.mil/porta...TAB_HS_PADLOCK which includes a picture of the lock and keys. I noticed they "fuzzed" part of one key where the M3 slider code might be but I can't tell just by looking if it's really an M3 or not. Maybe they fuzzed it to avoid revealing any cuts, not the slider code. I assume, since Medeco is pushing the M3 as the latest and greatest thing (I don't necessarily agree), they would want to see this in new products.

I've seen that before. Notice that what has been blurred is the key millings that may allow you to recognize the D4 keyway. Logo's to identify the mechanism and its associated key require that the key be marked with the logo's that apply to ensure key control coverage. While those keys have the Biaxail logo, they do not have the M3 logo. Because they are the D4 keyway they are still protected by US law against duplication of the keyway, but the www is visible beyond the boundries of the US, hence blurring.

The ebay listing has fairly clear pictures of the keys.
