    Default Door lock from a door I got at an auction.

    Hi , I am new to this and not sure what I am doing. Please be patient with me. I would love to know if anyone can help me with this. It came off a door that I am refinishing to make a headboard for my bed. However this door lock - latch was on it, I think it is pretty cool but can't seem to find any info on this type. Any help would be very appreciated. Should I leave it as it is , or refinish it??

    Default Nice

    Wow, that is pretty cool. nice find. it's just a door "latch" as there is no "locking" mechanism involved, even though you would use a key to pull the latch just the same.
    Each collector has different likes, some would clean it up, others like the "old" look. At the very least, it wouldn't hurt to wipe all the metal down with a light oil or WD40, to keep any further rust from happening. If you don't have a key, it wouldn't take much to get one working for that.
    ;; just my two cents ;;
